The Dutch based computer maker Packard Bell is releasing a new netbook; it will go under the name of dot s_C and is a more up to date version of the already established dot_s netbook. Being part of the Acer group, we can assume that the quality of the build is going to be pretty good, but at the moment, it looks like the launch of the dot s_C netbook is only set to take place in Europe.
Therefore, with that in mind what does this interesting little euro zone netbook have to offer? First up there is the standard netbook size 10.1 inch LCD LED backlit wide screen display with a 1024 x 600 of pixel resolution and there is a handy built in 3 mega pixel web camera and microphone.
It will be powered by the latest Cedar Trail Intel Atom N2600 processor this comes with two processing cores offering four threads in total and has been clocked at 1.6 GHz. Video and graphics use the integrated Intel GMA 3600 graphics card, which is fine for a netbook. Inside there is just 1 GB of DDR3 RAM and for storage there is no solid state drive (SSD) but instead they have gone for a 320 GB mechanical hard disk drive (HDD).
Networking is covered by the integrated wireless LAN 802.11n adapter, while for connectivity, there are three standard USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output for connecting to a larger monitor and there is a SD card reader slot. This netbook is still slim though, being 24 mm at its thickest point, weighing in at just 1.3 kilos and that is with the 6 cell 4400 mAh battery installed, that Packard Bell claim is good for up to eight hours of use, while running on the Microsoft Windows 7 Starter operating system.
Currently the Packard Bell dot s_C netbook is priced at around $370, but only available in Europe so far.
