At an event in South Korea, Samsung have launched a couple of new additions to the Series 9 range of laptops. These smart looking laptops are finished in shiny aluminium making then both light and thin. Currently it seems that both the 13.3 inch and 15 inch model will be launched in South Korea and while there is no announcement on them being launched in other markets, it seems certain that the Samsung NT900X3B-A74 will turn up eventually in the US and Europe.
The new series 9 comes with either a 13.3 or 15 inch SuperBright LED backlit display with a 1600 x 900 of pixel resolution and despite how thin it is there is still room for a built in web camera. Both models will be powered by the latest Intel Sandy Bridge CPU’s, such as the 1.7 GHz Core i7-2637M processor, which has been paired with the highly capable integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics card.
When it comes to internal memory, there is a reasonable 4 GB of RAM available and to save weight and space Samsung have opted for the 256 GB solid state drive (SSD) rather than a mechanical hard disk drive. Networking is covered by the installed 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi feature and there is also a handy Bluetooth 3.0 connection too. Other features that stand out is the dual 1.5W speaker system, a four into one multi card reader, one fast USB 3.0 port and finally a handy mini HDMI output.
It comes all wrapped up in smart aluminium body with a thickness of just 12.9 mm and weighing around two and half pounds despite the six cell (40 Wh) battery being installed. The Samsung NT900X3B-A74 is available in South Korea with a price tag of $1,399 for the 13.3 inch version and $1,499 for the 15 inch model, hopefully these two laptops will be launched in other markets too.
