Are these the Canon 5D Mark III specs?

Are these the Canon 5D Mark III specs?: Are these the Canon 5D Mark III specs?

An extensive set of specs list for the impending Canon 5D Mark III have appeared on CanonRumors, complete with a new series of supposed pictures of the new model.

Rumours have been circulating that an upgrade to the Canon 5D Mark II will be announced tomorrow, but this is the first time such an extensive list of specs has appeared.

Although the site fails to mention where the list comes from, all of the features seem pretty likely to be accurate.

Something we've known about for a while is the 22 million pixel full-frame sensor, which is beginning to look a little low when compared with the recent Nikon D800 announcement, which boasts a 36 million pixel sensor.

It seems unlikely that Canon would wait much longer to reveal its next full-frame camera, given the age of the 5D Mark II and the stiff competition it is facing from the Nikon D800.

Delays

Canon has already had delays with its 1D X camera, which is now scheduled for an April availability date after being announced all the way back in October.

Meanwhile, Nikon's D4 has also been hit with delays.

Many people expected the 5D Mark III to be announced at the CP+ Japanese photography show in early February, but perhaps Canon has been waiting to announce the new camera closer to an actual release date.

The specs also show that the 5D Mark III will apparently have a 61 point autofocusing system, an intelligent viewfinder with 100% coverage and dual slots for CF and SD cards.

If that particular spec is true, that means that Canon has rejected the new XQD memory card format, implemented in the new Nikon D4.

Several sites are confident that tomorrow will see the launch of the camera, so stay tuned to see what happens.
