iPad 3 Shipments To Commence From March 16 [Rumor]:

Rumor has it that iPad 3 shipments will commence from March 16, 2012. Apple has already sent out media invites for the official iPad 3 announcement event that will take place on March 7, 2012 at the Yerba Buena Center For The Arts in San Francisco, California.

The iPad 3 announcement comes after a full year since iPad 2 was announced back on March 2, 2011. In the recent months much has been rumored and speculated about Apple’s new tablet. There is no final word as yet on it’s features or specifications. However we do know that the next generation iPad will once again change how people look at tablets. Apple CEO Tim Cook said about a week back that in 2012 they will release products that will ‘blow our minds’. The iPad 3 will certainly turn out to be a mind blowing device.

Apart from the event date, Apple hasn’t revealed much in the invites. The invite does not mention when the iPad 3 will start shipping. Last year, the iPad 2 started shipping 9 days after the announcement and by the end of March 2011 shipments to over 15 countries had begun. Recent reports have indicated that the company will be opening two high profile retail stores, one in USA and the other in UK, on March 16 which is exactly 9 days after the announcement event on March 7. With this kept in mind, it is now being rumored that iPad 3 shipments will begin on March 16 and the two new retail stores will open up for the first time with iPad 3 in stock.

Adding further proof to this theory is an article by The Houston Chronicle, which says:

“Houston’s newest Apple Store is scheduled to open on March 16, according to a source involved with the store’s opening. That date may coincide with first-day sales of the company’s newest version of the iPad. The store, located in the Highland Village Shopping center at Westheimer and Drexel , was originally supposed to open in January, according to the source, but was delayed. March 17 was originally set as the new opening date, but the source said it was moved to the 16th a few weeks ago.”

The other retail store rumored to open on March 16 will be placed inside the legendary Harrods Departmental Stores in London, UK. Right now, the March 16 iPad 3 shipments date is just a rumor. We will only know for sure once the product has actually been unveiled to the world.
