Asus has updated the Eee PC 1011PX, the main difference seems to be that they have switched the Intel Atom N455/N570 Pine Trail processor for the latest 1.6 GHz Atom N2600 Cedar Trail CPU offering better performance.
It looks like the reports of the death of the netbook could be wrong, because recently we have seen a few new arrivals in the netbook market and Asus has joined in with the new Eee PC 1011CX, which may look like the Eee PC 1011PX but there are some subtle changes.
One thing that never changes on a netbook is the 10.1 inch display, which features a 1024 x 600 of pixel resolution and comes with a built in 0.3 mega pixel web camera. As mentioned earlier it will be powered by the latest edition of the Intel 1.6 GHz Atom N2600 Cedar Trail chip, which according to reports should offer better performance, while at the same time reduce the amount of power being used.
There is a choice of internal memory from the normal 1 GB up to 2 GB of RAM and the same goes for storage with the buyer choosing between, either the 320 GB or 500 GB hard disk drive (HDD). The netbook has the normal networking capabilities with the 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connectivity while there is also Bluetooth 3.0, which is handy for connecting to accessories wirelessly.
Other features on offer are the VGA & HDMI ports and three standard USB 2.0 ports. when it comes to size, it measures 10.3 inch (W) x 7 inches (D) x 1.4 inched (D) and it weighs in at just 2.8 pounds with the 3 or 6 cell 48 Whr battery installed. According to Asus, the user is able to get up to eleven hours of operating time.
The Eee PC 1011CX from Asus is already available online from some retailers for pre-order with a starting price of around $270
