2012 is off to a fresh start and the world anxiously awaits new models of the gadgets it has grown to love over the course of last year. In 2011, the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S 2 sold like hot cakes because both of these devices are at the top in their leagues. Apple has already said that the products they launch in 2012 will blow our minds, and a full redesigned as well as revamped iPhone 5 is up for release in Fall of 2012. Samsung will be releasing Galaxy S 3 this year and now it has been confirmed that the release of Samsung’s next flagship Android smartphone will take place at a special event in April, 2012.
While nothing has been officially revealed about features and specifications of Samsung Galaxy S 3, there have been a number of leaks along the way. It is expected that this smartphone will be powered by a 1.5Ghz quadcore processor. The whopping 4.8″ touchscreen will support full HD visuals at 1080p. An all new ceramic back for the smartphone has also been rumored. It’s predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S 2 bagged the Best Smartphone award at Mobile World Congress 2012. Samsung certainly wishes to raise the bar higher with Galaxy S 3, as this particular line of Android powered smartphones is most revered by Android enthusiasts all around the world.
Cheil Worldwide marketing and advertising agency has Samsung as a client. ZDNet Korea‘s recent report reveals that they have heard through sources at this agency, that Samsung is shooting for an April release of Galaxy S 3. Furthermore, London is targeted as a key city during the launch process. This report actually holds a lot of weight, considering the fact that London will be hosting 2012 Olympics during the Summer and launching a flagship smartphone in this timeframe can do wonders for sales.
When contacted, a PR official for Samsung refused to comment on this report. The April timing seems ripe for Samsung to unveil its latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered smartphone. No details have been leaked regarding pricing, availability and shipments. We’ll keep you in the loop as soon as we hear more.
