Acer have launched a newer version of the already successful Aspire One range of netbooks, it is more or less the same as the previous model, except there are changes in the specifications and features, but nothing so significant as to make someone dump their current netbook in favour of this updated version from Acer.
As expected this model has hit the shelves of Japanese retailers a long time before anywhere else in the world and Acer have stuck a price tag on it that is just short of $500. However, that seems rather expensive for the US and European markets where similar netbooks can be purchased for around $300, so we will need to keep on the prices of these when the Aspire One AOD270 finally appears on the market.
On the features for this new Aspire One AOD270, it will come with a 10.1 inch CyrstalBrite LED Back lit Display with a 1024 x 600 of pixel resolutions and it comes with an integrated web camera and microphone for easy communications.
It will be powered by the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N2600 Dual Core processor with support for Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 and the Intel NM10 Express Chipset. There is a minimal amount of internal storage available at 1 GB of DDR3 RAM, as well as the normal sized 320 GB hard disk drive (HDD) at 5400 rpm for storage purposes.
Networking is provided by the 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (RJ-45) and there is Bluetooth 4.0 + HS too. Other features include the Multi-in-1 Media Card Reader, three standard USB 2.0 ports and that all important HDMI port for connecting the device to a larger display.
This new version of the Aspire One AOD270 is currently on sale in Japan, but will become available worldwide soon. The starting price of netbook in Japan is currently around $480, but that could change for other markets.
