Once again, the CeBIT trade show in Hannover, Germany has delivered, this time Acer has been showing its shiny new ultrabook neatly named the M3! It is a fifteen inch model, with all of the features and specs expected from an ultrabook.
It is light due the aluminium rear cover and it offers a real fast resume in just 1.5 seconds from sleep mode and Acer claim that the user is able get onto the Internet in just 2.5 seconds, which according to the manufacturer is unrivalled in the market.
Naturally Acer are keeping the finer details to themselves, saving all the goodies for the launch later on in the month, but basically we have a 15 inch display with a 1366 × 768 of pixel resolutions and a built in web camera and microphone. Acer say that it is going to be powered by the latest Intel Core processors, yet to be announced, we assume that they must be going for the latest Ivy Bridge processor. It with have a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT640M graphics card.
There is no word on internal memory, but storage is provided by a hard disk drive (HDD) combo with a solid state drive (SSD), although there is an SSD only configuration available should the buyer wish. Surprisingly there is an optical DVD drive, which is rare for an ultrabook, along with some serious Dolby Home Theater v4 or premium speakers. The M3 will have a handy full size Chiclet keyboard with numeric pad too, which means ease of use.
Being an ultrabook it is thin measuring just 20 mm and light too, weighing in at just 2 kilos with the battery pack installed that Acer say should be good for eight hours of power.
Acer say that the M3 ultrabook will be going on sale sometime this month, but it may depend on how soon Intel release the new processor. The price of the M3 is yet to be announced.
