There are hundreds of thousands of apps available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on the iTunes App Store. There is an app for every imaginable thing that the device is capable of doing, hence the popular term “There’s an app for that”. Categories on the App Store include Utilities, Games, Productivity, Finance and Social Network apps and thousands of apps are submitted by developers all around the world each day for addition in the App Store.
After Facebook, Twitter is the only social network in the world that has the most number of active users. In an amazingly short span of time, Twitter has taken over the online lives of people who can not resist telling the world their stories each day in 140 characters. There are dozens of Twitter clients for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch available in the App Store but one has by far stood out from the rest. Tweetbot is the most preferred client for iOS devices, after the official Twitter iOS app that is.
Today the developers have released Tweetbot 2.1. This update comes with some specific changes to the iPad version. The changelog is as follows:
1. iPad graphics optimized for the new iPad’s retina display

2. Streaming (when on WiFi with settings to disable it)

3. The “new tweets” sound is now limited to mentions, DM’s, and new tweets via pull-to-refresh

4. Double-tapping on the timeline tab button takes you to last read tweet before going to the top

5. Improvements to the Tweetmarker service

6. Camera+ 3.0 Capturing/Editing Support

7. Bug fixes related to direct messages

8. Many other bug fixes
A new feature has been added to the iPhone and iPad version of Tweetbot 2.1. It’s called Streaming. This feature eliminates the need for manually refreshing tweets by pulling to refresh. Instead Tweetbot will automatically display new tweets in the timeline as soon as they are published. There are two caveats though. Streaming only works on WiFi and is limited to three versions of Tweetbot at any given time of the day.
Tweetbot 2.1 is priced at $2.99 in the App Store and is filed under the Social Networking category. Pre-requisites include having an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch compatible with iOS 4.1 firmware or higher.
