Analyst Claims Apple iPanel HDTV To Be Released In 2012:
An analyst has claimed that Apple iPanel, the company’s long rumoured HDTV will be released in 2012. A couple of months back, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that the company is working on products which will blow our minds in 2012. At the New iPad event, he further added that the company was just getting started and that a lot of amazing products will be released in 2012 alone. I don’t doubt Tim’s words or Apple’s capability to release mind blowing products, that is why I anxiously look forward to each and every product.

The current Apple TV device, a set-top box, is regarded as a hobby by the company, and they are yet to officially announce anything about a full fledged HDTV. There has been chatter in online circles regarding an Apple HDTV. Speculation is based on reports by various sources with connections to the supply chain in China, where Apple’s products are manufactured. Moreover, Foxconn’s recent $800 million investment in Sharp is also being linked to mass production of Apple HDTVs.
Peter Misek of Jefferies recently updated his estimate of Apple stock to $800 a piece. This price target update was done keeping in mind the strong possibility that the Cupertino outfit will release a full fledged HDTV in the fourth quarter of 2012. Furthermore he believes that Apple will name this product iPanel, based on the assumption that rumoured Apple iTV moniker gives off limiting connotations. Then again, this does make sense as Apple is not looking to produce just another HDTV.
There’s been talk of Siri integration in the HDTV, but it obviously remains to be seen which of the rumoured features materialize at the end of the day. Also, Apple would have difficulties in launch and release of this product if it goes ahead with the iTV moniker. In the UK, there’s a major television network called ITV and in order to retail in the product in UK, Apple would have to acquire the rights to this name. That acquisition of rights may never happen, so obviously Apple will have to go with an entirely different name for it’s HDTV.
Just last week more clues regarding Apple HDTV surfaced as a new patent of Apple was discovered. There is just too much evidence right now in favour of the rumour that Cupertino is going to release a full fledged television set. However it remains to be seen when exactly the company decides to bring this device in the market. Misek believes Apple will price it around $1250. The big question is, would you buy one?
