Asus prepare to launch the U82U:
Here is an interesting idea, it is the new U82U laptop seen on the Asus Facebook page, ordinarily it may be classed as an ultrabook, but this will not qualify because Asus have gone with an AMD processor and not with Intel. However, apart from that the laptop has all of the trappings of an ultrabook, being light, slim and fast.

According to user manual that can be seen here on the Asus support site, it shows that the battery could be removable, it has some sort of access panel on the bottom of the laptop to, this appears to allow upgrading the RAM and hard drive a lot more straight forward, which is a bonus.
From what we have found the new Asus U82U will have a reasonable sized fourteen inch display with a built in web camera and microphone. As mentioned earlier it will be powered by the AMD E-450 dual core processor with two Bobcat cores and the video will be powered by the AMD Radeon HD 6320 graphics card.

The base model will start with a 2 GB of DDR3 memory but there is support for up to 8 GB internal memory and there is a useful 500 GB mechanical hard disk drive (HDD) for storage purposes. Other features will include a couple of super fast USB 3.0 ports, a standard USB 2.0 port and that all important HDMI output that allows the laptop to connect to a HD television, which is great for games and movie watching.
The laptop weighs in at less than four pounds (1.84 kg) and that is with the 8 cell battery pack installed. However, it is not unusual to find that these specs are subject to change as the release date approaches.

There is no news on when the Asus U82U will be going on sale, but it will come with a starting price of around $600.
