Those of us who like road racing—and long for an American driver in F1—likely already know about Alexander Rossi (World Series by Renault) and Conor Daly (GP3). But there’s another young Yank making a splash in Europe—Michael Lewis, who just won at Spa-Francorchamps in the Formula 3 Italia Championship series. Driving for Prema PowerTeam Dallara, the young Californian—the son of Steve Lewis, founder and publisher of Performance Racing Industry—qualified on the pole Friday and then won the Saturday race, which was held in the driving rain. This was Lewis’ first win in the series, and he’s now 2nd in points and leading the rookie championship. Another American, Eddie Cheever III, also races in the series, finishing 8th that day.
