The Acer S5 comes with Intel Thunderbolt technology

The Acer S5 comes with Intel Thunderbolt technology:

The whole idea about an ultrabook is that it should be light, thin and fast, which is a group of features that are not always easy to put together into the frame of a laptop and yet we see that Acer have come up with the S5 and they claim that this machine is the thinnest ultrabook around.

Well it seems that they could be right, because from what little we do know about the S5, the one thing that we can be sure about is its thickness of just 15 mm, now that is thin for am all metal chassis laptop that has enough strength in it to balance the slim body.

Acer have been a bit quiet on the details of this ultrabook, but it is believed that while most computers in this sector are using the Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, it is possible that there could be a base unit powered by the i3 processor, which would be another first for the S5.

From the outside, it is clear to see that it has the cool MagicFlip I/O port panel located at the back; this will house some interesting ports many of which are not available on other ultrabooks because of the designs based on a slim body. Therefore, we can expect to find a couple of superfast USB 3.0 ports and hopefully an HDMI port for viewing content on a larger screen.

Other than that this was the Acer S5 at the CES 2012 in Las Vegas, it promises to be so much and now we have to wait to see if Acer is able to deliver on these promises in the Spring or there about.

According to the Acer people, this laptop is expected to be officially launched in the US and the UK at some time during the Spring of this year.
