Launched a few months this special edition laptop from Asus called the N43SL Jay Chou edition, will soon be arriving in stores throughout the US. This may sound exciting, but according to Asus when they say that this is a limited edition, they mean it, as there will only be a hundred models made available at a starting price of around $999, the price is yet to be confirmed!
There is a special colour and design on the cover, as well some serious audio equipment included in with this machine; you would not expect anything else considering that Jay Chou, is a top singer and songwriter in Asia!
This special edition machine comes with a nice size 14.0 inch 16:9 high definition LED Back light Asus Splendid Video Intelligent Technology display with a 1366 x 768 of pixel resolution and it has a built in 2 Mega Pixel Fixed web camera.
The ASUS N43SL is powered by either an Intel Core i3 2330M/2310M Processor or the faster i5 2430M/2410M Processor, while the video is controlled by the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics card with either 1 GB or 2 GB of DDR3 VRAM. As for the DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM there are 2 x SO-DIMM sockets for expansion up to 8 GB of SDRAM and the storage comes in a wide variety of choices starting with the 2.5″ SATA 750 GB 7200 rpm, 640 GB 5400 rpm, 500 GB 5400 rpm/7200 rpm, 500 GB 7200 rpm With 4 GB SSD and finally there is the base processor of 320 GB 5400 rpm.
When it comes to networking this machine comes equipped with an Integrated 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11 b/g wireless, 10/100/1000 Base T and there is even the Option of Built-in Bluetooth.
There are plenty of other features to check out too, such as the Microphone-in jack, Headphone-out jack, VGA port/Mini D-sub 15-pin for external monitor, USB 3.0 port, 3 x USB 2.0 ports, RJ45 LAN Jack for LAN insert and naturally, there is an HDMI port too.
This laptop uses a six cell battery with 5200 mAh 56 Whrs running the Genuine Windows 7 Home Basic operating system. The size of this machine is 35 cm x 24.3 cm x 3.3 to 3.7 cm (W x D x H) and weighs in at just 2.4 kg (with the 6 cell battery installed)
