At the CES 2012 in Las Vegas, the word was that Toshiba would be showing off a new convertible notebook to be called the Portégé M930 and yet on the Toshiba stand this new machine could not be found, had the industry got it wrong?
Well no, because the all new Portégé M930 convertible tablet and notebook was at the show, it was just being displayed on the Microsoft stand so only eagle eyed visitors got hands on with the Portégé M930 this time around, but we do have some details on this new addition to the convertible computer sector.
There are a few details around on the new Portégé M930, such as it will have a 13.3 inch LCD screen with a 1280 x 800 of pixel resolution and it appears to have a built in web camera too.
It will be powered by the middle of the range Intel Core i5 Sandy Bridge processor, the internal memory will be 4 GB of RAM and there is a good sized 256 GB solid state drive (SSD) for internal storage.
When it comes to connectivity, there are two standard USB 2.0 ports available and yet there are no superfast 3.0 USB ports installed. However, there is a full sized Ethernet port, the very useful HDMI out port and they have made room for full size SD slot, which is strange.
For an ultrabook styled machine, weighing in at 4.2 pounds is not a good weight to have to handle and the same goes for the 1.1 inch thickness. Currently this model is running Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system, but you have to imagine that when this machine is finally released, it will be running the Windows 8 operating system.
It is still early days for this machine and so far, and Toshiba have not indicated a price range or even when we can expect it to be going on sale.
