EICMA 2011: Honda Crosstourer, the debut maxi enduro 1200

Finally the first maxienduro with V4 engine will go into production. The announcement is Honda, which will lead to the final version of the 2011 EICMA Crosstourer 1200.

Exposed as a concept during last year’s Milan Show, the new creature Japan had caused a sensation for the particular architecture of the chassis (which revolves around an oversized aluminum twin spar frame clearly inspired by road) and even more unusual – for segment – the engine, as well as for the original line and innovative.

Few people would have bet that under the fuel tank of the production model that we would be really huge and powerful V4. But Honda engineers have stuck that engine without hesitation in the frame of what promises to be a real crossover to two wheels, designed for both long trips and quick on asphalt, as well as for off-road light.

To confirm the nature enduro tires, there will be sculpted and wire wheels with the front 19-inch, 1200 while the engine will not have some of the 173 horses Vfr (but it will be very rich and very powerful torque for its category), but retain transmission final drive and the ability to have an optional automatic transmission with double clutch DCT.

No photos for now, so you just have to review the prototype 2010, for which however Crosstourer production will differ in more than one thing.
